Your Case

Welcome Aboard – Let’s Get Started!

Now that you’ve made the decision to work with me as your immigration attorney, it’s time to get the wheels turning and move your case forward.

Below is a clear step-by-step outline of what you can expect as we begin working together:

🔹 Initial Client Responsibilities

1. Complete the Intake Questionnaire

You’ll begin by filling out and submitting my intake questionnaire so I can gather essential information about your background and goals.

2. Review and Sign the Legal Representation Agreement

Both you (the client) and I (your attorney) will sign a contract of legal representation, which outlines the scope of services, responsibilities, and terms of our engagement.

3. Submit the Required Retainer and Fees

You’ll transfer any agreed-upon retainers and legal fees to my designated trust account, per the payment instructions I’ll provide.

4. Provide All Required Documentation

You will also need to:

  • Complete detailed supplemental questionnaires, and
  • Assemble all necessary documentation relevant to your case.

📤 How to Submit Your Documents

Please follow these instructions carefully when submitting your supporting documents:

✅ Acceptable Methods:

  • Hard copy by trackable mail (FedEx or UPS preferred) – No USB drives, thumb drives, or standard mail please—these are frequently lost or damaged.
  • Cloud-based storage (e.g., Google Drive or Dropbox) – Provide a direct access or download link.
  • Secure FTP upload – I can provide login credentials upon request.
  • In-person delivery – Available by appointment only if you’re located nearby.

⚠️ Very Important:

  • Do NOT send mobile phone or tablet “photos” of documents.
  • Do NOT send photos of computer screens. (Webpage screenshots may be acceptable in certain cases.)
  • Do NOT staple any documents – My scanner and I thank you in advance!

📎 Note: Some documents may require certified copies, notarization, or official translations if issued in a foreign language. I will advise you on these requirements if they apply to your case.

🔹 Attorney Responsibilities

Once your intake and documents are received, I will take the lead on the following:

5. Document Review & Case Assembly

I’ll carefully review all submissions to identify any issues or gaps and begin assembling your case in accordance with government requirements.

6. Preparation of Forms, Letters, and Fee Filings

I will draft the necessary support letters, complete all USCIS or consular forms, and organize any required filing fees.

7. Signatures

You will be asked to review and sign all finalized documents. I will also sign as your legal representative.

8. Scanning, Archiving & Government Submission

Your file will be:

  • Scanned and archived digitally for record-keeping,
  • And then submitted to the appropriate U.S. government agency (e.g., USCIS, NVC, or the consulate).

🏛️ What Happens After Filing

After submission, the next steps may vary depending on your case type and where it is processed. Typical developments include:

  • Receipt notice and case number assignment from USCIS or the consulate;
  • ⚠️ Correcting minor rejections, such as outdated forms or improperly issued checks (I handle these issues for you);
  • 📬 Responding to government requests such as:
  • Requests for Evidence (RFE),
  • Notices of Intent to Deny (NOID), or
  • Consular refusals under INA §221(g);

🛡️ As your lawyer, I will respond to these requests on your behalf—please do not respond on your own without consulting me first.

  • 🖐️ Biometrics Appointments (fingerprinting and photographing),
  • 🩺 Medical Exams with designated civil surgeons (you’ll attend these personally),
  • 🗣️ Interviews – You may be required to attend an in-person interview. I may attend with you, depending on the case and location (additional attorney fees may apply for representation at interviews).

You’re not alone. I’ll guide you at each step, ensure your case remains compliant and properly documented, and act as your legal representative throughout the process.
