My Work as a Backyard Beekeeper

SHIRE GOLD APIARY

🐝 Shire Gold Apiary

Outside of my legal practice, I maintain an active apiary (bee yard) with several colonies of Italian honeybees. I’m a state-registered and licensed beekeeper in Florida, currently enrolled in the University of Florida’s Master Beekeeper Program.

🌼 Why I Keep Bees

Beekeeping allows me to:

  • Observe and study bee behavior in a managed environment
  • Support local pollination and ecological health in a 3–5 mile radius
  • Harvest honey, pollen, and propolis responsibly and sustainably

I always prioritize the health and well-being of my colonies, using best practices in hive management.

I’m also actively involved in the local beekeeping community and am beginning to raise locally bred queens to promote gentle, disease-resistant genetics and discourage “Africanized” bee traits.
