⚠️ Countries Ineligible for DV-2026

Natives of the following countries were not eligible to apply for DV-2026 because these countries had more than 50,000 immigrants to the U.S. in the past five years:

Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China (incl. Hong Kong SAR), Colombia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Haiti, Honduras, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, South Korea, United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland), Venezuela, and Vietnam

âś… Still eligible: Persons born in Macau SAR and Taiwan

đź“Ś Eligibility Exceptions: “Chargeability”

Even if you were born in a non-qualifying country, you may still be eligible to apply under certain conditions:

  • Your spouse was born in an eligible country
  • One of your parents was born in a qualifying country, and you were not legally a resident of your birth country at the time
  • You have dual nationality, and one nationality is eligible

📣 You must also meet the DV program’s minimum education or work experience requirement.

đź“· Photo Requirements

To submit a valid DV Lottery application, you must upload a passport-style digital photo that meets strict U.S. Department of State specifications.

You can:

  1. Take a new digital photo, or
  2. Scan a physical photo, as long as it meets official technical standards.

đź”— Use the photo validation tool on the DV Program site to confirm your photo is acceptable.

There is no fee to enter the Diversity Visa Lottery. However, many private services offer to help—for a fee.

Winners of DV-2026 will be notified between May and August 2025.

If selected, you can proceed with:

  1. Adjustment of Status (if already in the U.S.), OR
  2. Consular Processing (if residing abroad)
